With a bonus statement on unemployment numbers:
“Labor Day honors the contributions American workers have made to our nation throughout our remarkable history,” said Rabidoux. “On this Labor Day, I especially want to thank and recognize the hard working families throughout the 7th District and all of Tennessee.”
Rabidoux also expressed gratitude for the support of so many labor unions who have endorsed his candidacy. “The support of so many working Tennesseans advocating for issues like workplace safety, fair wages, against discrimination on the job, and competitive training is both an honor and a call to action for me,” said Rabidoux. “I am honored to have their support, and I will continue to fight hard for all our working families in the 7th District.”
“I will also continue to voice my strong belief that the surest way out of tough economic times and into prosperity is to provide real, meaningful tax relief to our middle class and to fully support our small businesses across Tennessee. A strong and vibrant middle class and thriving small business community are the twin engines to growth. It’s about Main Street, not Wall Street. Rep. Blackburn continues to not get this critical point.”
Rabidoux notes that as Labor Day nears, it is also natural to reflect on all of our fellow Americans and Tennesseans that are struggling with unemployment right now. “There is likely not one person who has not been either directly or indirectly affected by the high rates of unemployment. We all know someone affected by the loss of a job,” said Rabidoux. “Unemployment weakens our communities across the board. No one is completely immune.”
“Marsha Blackburn recently voted against a bill that would have extended unemployment insurance benefits,” Rabidoux continued. “I would have voted for this extension. With over 600,000 Tennesseans currently out of work, now is the time to extend a helping hand until they can get back on their feet. It’s not the time to turn our back on those in need.”
